Valentine’s Day is always something to look forward to and this year was no different. Within an hour the seats were fully booked and the senior citizens could not wait for this day. Tygerberg Meals on Wheels had their valentine’s day on 12 February as 14 February is too crowded wherever we want to go. The morning of 12 February all eats and drinks were packed and 2 Kombi’s and 2 vehicles hit the road to Camps Bay. What a perfect day! With no wind to worry about and a lovely shady spot on the grass we unpacked the champagne and treated them with a glass. Some of them went shopping at the stalls. After their long walk and full shopping bags, they returned for their treat of cakes, scones, juice, tarts etc. Estelle Muller, a good friend of mine, donated the scones and Brigette Witbooi, our assistant chef prepared all the other eats. The seniors thoroughly enjoyed themselves and did not want to go home as it was just a perfect day in all ways. It is always such a blessing to see how our seniors enjoy these outings because for some of them it might be the only outing until we arrange the next one that they can afford.
