Tygerberg Meals on Wheels celebrated the 100th Birthday of their oldest member (Tannie Thea Koch) in grand style. This festive birthday party was well attended by her fellow members, special guests, Local Councillor of ward 26 Ms Francheska Walker and the Director of Meals on Wheels Western Cape, Ps Norman Ryan. All present were treated to tasty eats (food) and entertainment provided bysinger Mr Hennie Basson as well as the senior Avenstrup couple. Ps Ryan‘s speech included the commandment “Honour your father and mother so that your days will be lengthened and trust in the Lord even in your old days” which fitted the occasion. Councillor Walker wished Tannie Koch well on this prestigious occasion and said she still looked good for her age. Tannie Koch has a good sense of humour and praised her parents for her good up-bringing. She is still very active specially with handwork. She contributes her old age to her love for chocolates, ice cream and the love she receives from her fellow members at the Centre. Tygerberg Meals on Wheels management is extremely proud of the active involvement of the clubs 70’s and 80’s seniors at the Centre. Their sense of positivity and active involvement keep the seniors healthy and young in their communities. All present enjoyed the 100th birthday celebrations.
Baie geluk!
