Many of our seniors find it difficult to get through their day to day tasks, especially those who don’t have family relatives living close to them. These tasks includes, but are not limited to, shopping, visiting SASSA and the Department of Home Affairs offices to do enquiries such as pensions and ID Cards. They find it sometimes unbearable to stand in long queues, especially those who are frail. With the help of the Department of Home Affairs and our Local Councillor – Ms Franchesca Walker, the Tygerberg Service Centre for the Aged and Meals on Wheels took a group of seniors to the Department to get new ID Cards. The above forms part of Tygerberg Meals on Wheels mission to assist their elderly as well as Leonsdale seniors with these types of day to day tasks. In doing so, Meals on Wheels believes it will help the seniors to enjoy their golden years. We want to thank the Department of Home Affairs for their efficient manner in which they assisted the seniors at their Bellville Office.
