Tygerberg Meals on Wheels is well known for their information sessions in order to enhance the lives of the seniors. Two such sessions were held – one by SASSA and the other by the Environmentel Health Department. Sassas sharing included the following: Who qualifies for grants – how to complete the application forms – the different types of grants available and the documents that should accompany the applications. Sassa has also arranged to visit the Tygerberg Meals on Wheels seniors to assists with the application forms. The Environmental Health Department discussion included the following: Diarrhoea, personal hygiene, Listerioses, water saving tips, hypertension, control of human waste, etc. Management of the Tygerberg Meals on Wheels are extremely grateful for the various department staff members who educate the senior citizens in a very practical and sometimes humorous manner. It is important that our seniors are kept up to date with issues of this nature that they face on a daily basis.
