Tygerberg Meals on Wheels started handing out the first Christmas lunches of the year. 510 meals were dished up and packed with a lot of enthusiasm by the seniors who were going to Bellville South to help hand out the meals. Shortly before they were to leave, management received a call to ask them not to come because of gang-shooting in the area and arrangements had to be made to deliver the lunches to another community nearby. Because of the perilous situations in these areas, it was decided that it would be safer to leave the seniors at the Centre. It is always a blessing to see how the elderly and the children enjoy a warm meal but it is getting more and more difficult to fulfil our mission in these dangerous townships.
